Black Swan Ale House
The Black Swan Ale House is one of South Calgary’s most popular pubs, with charismatic restaurateur Kade Klimchik at the helm since the beginning. They offer a comfortable pub atmosphere with an ever-evolving menu of snacks, traditional pub fare, world cuisine, and a huge selection of imported and domestic beers.
The menu is loaded with comfort food and familiar classics. They offer a plethora of choices sure to satisfy at any time of day, introducing fresh ideas while still retaining the “Swan Classics” that keep the customers coming back. Try the classic Stuffed Yorkies. Yorkshire pudding pastry is stuffed with tender prime rib, topped with horseradish aioli, and sided au jus. Or try the So Cal (So Cal = South Calgary) Fish Tacos, lightly battered crisp cod fillets with wasabi mayo, baby arugula greens, crunchy oil and vinegar slaw, and a fresh mango salsa on the side.
We chose the Crispy Onion Ring Burger. The third of a pound freshly ground 100% sirloin patty is topped with crunchy onion rings in a light tempura batter, tangy Whiskey Creek BBQ sauce and sharp aged cheddar on a brioche bun. We felt it was best accompanied with one of their true 20 oz. pints.
We can’t get enough of the the build-your-own Grilled Cheese. Choose your bread and choose from over 18 ingredients such as smoked Gouda, grilled apple, Mac and Cheese, fried egg and even pepperoni! Then they grill the cheese on the outside, stuff more on the inside making this the cheesiest treat ever! Pick your side and enjoy your masterpiece.
With seating up to 300 “The Swan” is a popular choice for community fundraising events for great causes. Don’t forget every Friday and Saturday is paint night where everyone can get their “Picasso” on.
The patio is the perfect sunny haven that catches the sun until sunset with outdoor heaters extending patio season well into fall.
